HOW TO APPLY TO RENEW YOUR CREDENTIAL?
RENEWING YOUR DIRECTOR CREDENTIAL IS REALLY SIMPLE. YOU WILL NEED TO APPLY FOR A RENEWAL BY SUBMITTING DOCUMENTATION AND TRAINING HOURS.
DID YOU KNOW?
OUR DIRECTOR CREDENTIAL EXPIRE EVERY THREE YEARS, AND YOU CAN RENEW YOUR EXPIRED CREDENTIAL WITH US EVEN IF YOUR ORIGINAL CREDENTIAL IS FROM ANOTER AGENCY.

Requirements to Renew Your Texas Director Credential:
To successfully renew your Director Credential, you must meet all of the following eligibility requirements and provide the required documentation:
1. Original Credential Documentation
You must provide a copy of your original Director Credential, which must meet the following conditions:

It is currently active or near expiration, or
-
It is expired, but no more than one (1) year past the expiration date.
Note: The credential must have been issued by a Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) recognized credentialing agency.
2. Continuing Education Requirements
You must provide documentation of continuing education clock hours:

A minimum of 30 clock hours per year from your original credential start date to your expiration date.

Training hours can cover any early childhood education–related topics (e.g., curriculum, leadership, classroom management, child development, etc.).
3. Employment in Early Childhood
You must be currently working with young children or provide proof that you are actively preparing to return to the early childhood field.
Acceptable documentation includes:

A letter from a current or upcoming employer, or
-
A written statement from the applicant verifying plans for immediate employment in early childhood education.
4. Valid CPR & First Aid Certification
You must have a current and valid CPR & First Aid certification that meets the following criteria:

Covers infant, child, & adult

Must be completed in person (online-only CPR/First Aid is not accepted)

Step 2: Upload all supportive documents onto your online portal:

Application (digital and available on your account once you complete your purchase)

Copy of expired or soon to be expired credential.

Step 3: Allow three business days for processing and you will be able to download and print a copy of your renewal.

RENEWAL ONLY for $150.00 (If you have all your hours and do not need any refresher courses)

If you do not have all of your clock hours to renew your Director Credential, please click here and purchase however many clock hours you need to complete.
For Proof of Training Example:

If you are renewing a three credential, you will need to show proof of 90 clock hours.

If you are renewing a two year credential, you will need to show proof of 60 clock hours.
-
If you are renewing a one year credential, you will need to show proof of 30 clock hours.
