As you look around the room, ask yourself this question "Is this a safe place for children?". Be sure to look all around, at the floors, ceiling and in the corners for building maintenance problems. Sometimes the toys and equipment is safe but the building is falling apart.

This is a very important to have an emergency preparedness plan. Make sure the school has an emergency plan for medical, fire, tornado, hurricanes and all natural disasters.
#6 Patient & Receptive to Children Needs
Pay close attention to how the staff treats the children. For example, how long was a child upset or when a child was speaking to them did they response rapidly.
#7 Security of the Center
It is imperative that every school or daycare have security measures in place that they can articulate to you not just read off a sheet of paper. Emergencies happens to fast they need to have some procedures memorized.
#8 Balance Meals
Look around to see a posted menu, and look to see if they are following the menu the day of your tour or visit.
#9 Operation is state licensed
There is so many illegal day cares, therefore it’s important that you see the license of the school your child attend, this should be posted somewhere in the facility.
#10 Training & Educational Level of Staff
Training and Professional Development is a very good trait to look for in a school. When a staff member is continually trained he or she is more knowledgeable and abreast with the latest child development theories.
